A native of California, I began my PR career with an emphasis on athletic and special events. Actually, I had the lofty goal of doing PR for an NFL team but that idea was a bit ahead of its time. As my career progressed, I moved to Chicago in 2002. I have been enjoying corporate communications as the job has changed over time with social media. I am addicted to Twitter and am a self-described news junkie. I love connecting with others who share similar interests. I decided to start this blog for a bit of a creative outlet for myself. I became a mother after my career was well underway, so the challenges of “a balancing act” were new to me later than most.
In case you wondered about the URL, I’ve determined my identity is solidly set in my maiden name: Vassallo. It is unique. It can be a conversation starter. I’m often asked what is its origin? My grandparents were from Malta. That is a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is just south of Sicily and its current population is approximately 350,000. When I was younger I did not like that it made me stand out and I wished for a name like Johnson or Tyler. Those were easy to spell and easy to pronounce. But now I am married with a really common last name and realize that it is not so bad to have a different sort of name.
Thanks for visiting!
